Maxwell Shafer prioritizes positioning his clients to win by eliminating potential risk and mitigating any issues so they can return to the important aspects of their business. This mentality, alongside his legal experience and sharp skills, guide Max as a civil attorney at Hedrick Gardner.
Among his accomplishments, Max earned his JD at William & Mary Law School where he served as the Senior Articles Editor for the Bill of Rights Journal, and interned for the honorable Judge Harrell and Judge Jones of the 5th Judicial District of North Carolina. He has experience drafting a wide variety of litigation documents including subpoenas, pleadings, dispositive motions, and motions for provisional remedies, along with assisting in civil and criminal Superior Court cases. Most recently, he worked as an extern for Justice Berger of the North Carolina Supreme Court where he briefed on insurance coverage and UDTPA matters.
Max is a proud Wilmington native: “Working at Hedrick Gardner is like coming home after being away for years.” He enjoys time with his wife on the Wilmington Riverwalk, trying new restaurants, and seeing The Dave Matthews Band live when the opportunity arises. His favorite weekend getaway, however, is the virtually unknown Cape Charles on the eastern shore of Virginia.
