Anjali Purohit sees litigation the way she watches football. Where a casual fan sees only the chaos of players colliding, she sees the details: the rules, the penalties, and the strategy behind every play. As an associate in Hedrick Gardner’s civil litigation practice, she brings that same attention to detail to each matter, helping clients understand how the rules apply to their situation and anticipating what the other side will do next.
Anjali’s path to practicing law began with a curiosity about people. As a sociology major, she studied how social and cultural factors shape the way people see and navigate the world. Before law school, she spent more than a year as a legal assistant at a Philadelphia business litigation firm. The experience taught her that every client arrives with a unique set of problems, and that the right strategy depends on each client’s goals and priorities, both legal and non-legal. That lesson continues to guide her approach. She knows the human side of a case matters just as much as the legal issues, and she embraces the fast pace and complexity of litigation with a mantra borrowed from her mother: “You can do hard things.”
Anjali built a strong foundation in litigation and regulatory work during law school. As a legal intern in the Health Service Section of the North Carolina Department of Justice, she supported attorneys representing the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services in matters involving the licensure and regulation of healthcare facilities. As a judicial intern with the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts, she researched and drafted orders for the state’s superior and district court judges and attended hearings across North Carolina.
A Durham native, Anjali grew up surrounded by college basketball. Her love of football came later, through time spent with her father learning about his Pittsburgh roots, and it grew after she moved to Philadelphia following college. Today she cheers on the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and, quietly, the Duke Blue Devils. When she isn’t watching a game, she enjoys yoga, exploring local coffee shops, and catching up on reality TV, and her favorite place to unwind is Kiawah Island.
