Brooke A. Mulenex

Partner

Brooke Mulenex practices exclusively in workers’ compensation defense, working with employers of all sizes to manage risk and minimize exposure in workers’ compensation and employment matters. She is committed to achieving swift, efficient resolutions for her clients and is prepared to try cases before the North Carolina Industrial Commission when disputes arise, handling appeals to the Full Commission and Court of Appeals as needed.

Known for her responsiveness and availability, Brooke provides clients with immediate assistance and current analysis of their claims. She tailors her approach to each client’s needs. While some long-term clients are experienced in North Carolina law, she offers pro-bono training seminars for others and takes time for one-on-one guidance with clients who are new to the field or to North Carolina workers’ compensation.

Brooke knew she wanted a legal career from childhood. At the University of South Carolina, she honed her advocacy skills through the Carolina Judicial Council and Mock Trial Team. Before law school, she gained valuable experience as a clerk with a civil defense firm’s medical malpractice team. During law school, she worked as a summer clerk at Hedrick Gardner, where her contributions earned her a full-time employment offer. She was delighted to accept and has remained with the firm ever since.

Currently serving as chair of the firm’s Associate Development Committee, Brooke is actively involved in onboarding and training new associates. Though her schedule has grown busier with two children at home, she continues her commitment to pro bono work with the North Carolina Legal Aid Program. In years past, she led Hedrick Gardner’s softball team to several victories and was a regular participant in the firm’s annual charity dodgeball tournament.
