Biography

Daja Burgee is a dedicated civil litigation attorney practicing in the firm’s Charlotte office. Her journey into law was inspired by a deep-rooted passion for history, political science, and a desire to advocate for those facing challenging circumstances.

Daja’s academic pursuit led her to earn a law degree from Elon University School of Law, where she excelled as the Membership Editor of We the People, Elon Law’s Constitutional Law Journal. She was also an Academic Fellow at Elon Law, where she mentored first-year students and taught workshops on legal subjects.

Before embarking on her legal career, Daja distinguished herself as a student-athlete, winning the NCAA Division III National Championship in softball twice at Virginia Wesleyan University. Her experiences as a minority student-athlete fueled her commitment to diversity and inclusion initiatives, such as her involvement in the Black Law Student Association at Elon Law and the Student Athlete Diversity Committee at Virginia Wesleyan.

During law school, Daja completed legal internships at The Fresh Market, where she immersed herself in researching federal and multi-state laws, drafting contracts, and supporting in-house attorneys. This hands-on experience allowed her to develop a strong foundation in civil litigation and contract law.

Beyond her law practice, Daja lives an active lifestyle outside the courtroom. She enjoys physical fitness, indulging in reality TV shows, and cherishing moments with her French Bulldog. Her love for travel was ignited during a study abroad program in the Netherlands, with Barcelona standing out as a favorite destination.

Daja’s unique background as a first-generation college graduate from a military family enriches her approach to legal practice. She brings a blend of academic excellence, athletic achievement, and personal resilience to her role as a civil litigation attorney.
