Melissa Grimes practices workers’ compensation law in the firm’s Charlotte office, where she combines thorough fact-gathering with clear communication to guide clients toward the best possible outcomes. Her approach centers on understanding each client, both the entity itself and the individuals she works with, allowing her to tailor her counsel based on their experience level and preferences. Clients less experienced with North Carolina law praise her ability to explain complex legal concepts in accessible terms.
Melissa brings valuable perspective to her practice through her experience as a Deputy Commissioner in the North Carolina Industrial Commission’s Charlotte regional office. This experience helps her provide clients with realistic assessments of potential case outcomes and strategic guidance throughout the workers’ compensation process.
Her foundation for connecting with people from diverse backgrounds was established early in her career when she took two years between undergraduate and law school to work in her family’s furniture and appliance store. This experience taught her how to relate effectively with individuals from all walks of life, skills that prove invaluable when working with the various parties involved in workers’ compensation cases.
During law school at Campbell University, Melissa distinguished herself as membership editor of the Campbell Law Review and gained additional judicial insight serving as an extern for Judge Sanford Steelman, Jr. at the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
Melissa maintains active involvement in the legal community as a member of the North Carolina State Bar and the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys. She has contributed to the profession by serving on the Mecklenburg County Bar’s continuing legal education committee, helping develop and implement educational programs for fellow attorneys.
Outside her legal practice, Melissa dedicates most of her time to her husband, two young children, and their two golden retrievers. She was a ballet dancer through college and even spent a week performing at the Carolina Opera House. She continues to maintain her love of the arts.
