Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) in a variety of matters including occupational/professional licensing, State employment, and other administrative issues. In addition, we help individuals and businesses remain in compliance with State and federal laws.
In addition to appearing before Administrative Law Judges at OAH, we represent clients before a number of other State agencies, including the Cabinet and Council of State departments, the N.C. Ethics Commission, the N.C. Industrial Commission, and the N.C. Rules Review Commission.

Appellate Case History
- Story Homes Construction, LLC v. North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors
- Successfully defended the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors before the N.C. Court of Appeals in a review of the Board’s adverse decision against a general contractor and qualifying individual. The Court affirmed the Board’s determination that a general contractor had engaged in fraud or deceit by failing to disclose pending Board investigations on a license renewal application and had been grossly negligent or incompetent in allowing its general contractor license to lapse.
- Ferris v. North Carolina Board of Architecture
- Represented the North Carolina Board of Architecture before the N.C. Court of Appeals. The Court affirmed the trial court’s dismissal of a petition for judicial review. The Board successfully argued that the Petitioner had failed to abide by specific statutory service-of-process provisions.
- Gabbidon Builders, LLC v. North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors
- Represented the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors before the N.C. Court of Appeals. The Court affirmed the Board’s decision to allow witnesses subpoenaed by the Board to appear virtually in a hearing against the Petitioner who was alleged to have participated in gross negligence, incompetency, and/or misconduct in the practice of general contracting.
- Federowicz v. North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners
- Successfully defended the North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiner’s adverse decision against a licensed chiropractor before the N.C. Court of Appeals. The Court affirmed the Board’s conclusion that the Chiropractor was negligent and failed to render acceptable care in the practice of chiropractic care.
