Biography

Laura’s practice focuses in the areas of insurance coverage, insurance regulatory matters, construction law, community association law, and insurance defense. Laura considers her clients’ interests her priority. Laura strives to obtain the best results in the most efficient and effective manner, including looking at innovative ideas to achieve those results. She prides herself on being accessible to her clients and able to assist in a variety of capacities.

Laura has been recognized by Best Lawyers® in 2023 for Insurance Law defense. She holds an AV®️ Preeminent™️ rating, the highest peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell, is a Certified Litigation Management Professional (CLMP) and speaks on a national level with the Claims Litigation and Management Alliance regarding insurance coverage matters and other topics relevant to the insurance industry. In addition to her years in private practice, Laura draws on experience as a former staff attorney with Fulton County Superior Court, and as a former staff member of the North Carolina National Guard, where she provided soldiers and their families with information regarding family law, consumer law, estate planning/administration, taxes, immigration, landlord/tenant issues, and military law. Laura is also a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, Tenth Judicial District Bar Association, Wake County Bar Association, and the Claims Litigation and Management Alliance.

Laura received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and her juris doctor from the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. While attending law school, she was a founding member of the Board of Advocates and served as the managing editor of the Public Interest Law Journal formerly known as the Poverty Law Journal. Additionally, she was a member of the second place team in the John Marshall Law School Mock Trial Competition.

Laura dedicates her time outside of work to her family and helping others. She is a member of the Board of Directors for Purple Heart Homes, Inc., a non-profit Veterans-focused organization providing housing solutions to qualified Veterans, works with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a non-profit which builds beds for children in need, and volunteers with Boy Scouts of America at her local troop and district level. If given a quiet moment, Laura loves a good book and a glass of wine.
