We are proud to announce that Tricia Shields has been selected to receive the prestigious John B. McMillan Distinguished Service Award from the North Carolina State Bar.
Established in 2009, this distinguished award recognizes current and retired members of the State Bar who have demonstrated exemplary service to the legal profession and their communities. Recipients are selected based on their professional achievements, contributions to the legal system, dedication to community service, and commitment to advancing equal justice for all.
Tricia’s remarkable career, spanning nearly four decades, is marked by exceptional leadership and numerous accolades. As President of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys (2011-2012), she has been a driving force in the legal community. Her excellence has been consistently recognized by Chambers® and Partners, and she received the NCADA’s Robert J. Elster Award for Professional Excellence in recognition of her outstanding contributions to both the Bar and community. In 2012, she was honored with the inaugural Women of Justice Award from North Carolina Lawyers Weekly. Her continued impact was further acknowledged with a Diversity and Inclusion Award from North Carolina/South Carolina Lawyers Weekly in 2019.
Since joining our firm in 2013, Tricia has been an invaluable mentor, colleague, and friend. Her leadership roles at the firm have included serving on the Management Committee, acting as General Counsel, and managing our Raleigh office. Tricia’s profound impact on both our firm and the legal profession will endure for years to come.
Tricia was officially presented the award during a reception held in her honor on November 14th.
